Favorite All-Time Film Performances...#100

100. Chalo Gonzalez, QuinceaƱera (Directors: Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, 2006)

Tio Tomas is the perfect example of the type of uncle (or grandfather/father/older relative) you wished could be part of your family. His love for his young nephew and niece is unconditional. He doesn’t care about their mistakes, their attitudes or anything else that they have done that has caused the rest of their family to cast them off. He embraces them for all they do.

Chalo Gonzalez was the only actor in this Sundance indie with previous experience, but he never forgot to help the younger actors. The chemistry that he shared with Emily Rios and Jesse Garcia made the audience feel the love that this family gave to each other. Gonzalez gave a simple and honest performance that we can’t help but smile when he is on screen.
