Quick Movie Reviews

Have yet to podcast our thoughts on the Emmy races, but quickly I wanted to say a little something about Inception and The Kids Are All Right.

I saw both films this week and I really enjoyed both of them. The former because it took a great idea and really delved into how we dream and what it means to dream. I can't say more without spoiling the film, which I highly recommend seeing twice. Christopher Nolan is a brilliant filmmaker and I love the choices he made in this film. Breathtaking stuff.

The latter was wonderful because it felt so real. A typical family dramedy with a twist. The performances by the entire cast were wonderful. This was the first time in a long time I enjoyed Annette Bening. Both Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo were excellent as well. I'm looking forward to whatever Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson do next. I loved Wasikowska on In Treatment (the less said about Alice in Wonderland the better) and I have never seen Hutcherson in anything else prior to this. The work by Lisa Cholodenko as director and co-writer was fantastic.
